Chilean wines are known for their excellent value for money ratio, intense and fruity flavors and quite soft tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère are the dominating red varietals. The Mediterranean climate, influenced by Pacific Ocean and the Andes, produces also fresh white wines, mainly Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, as well as complex reds, e.g.in the Central Valley, Maipo, and Colchagua regions.
